Wreck of the Titanic which sank nearly a century ago due to hit an iceberg could be gone forever. Carcasses that, according to scientists, will be depleted due to bacterial Halmonas titanicae eaten.
The opinion came after pemuan bacteria that feed on the wreck by Dr. Mann and Bhavleen HenSaatrietta Kaur from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, along with a team of researchers from the University of Seville, Spain, on Thursday (01/13/2011).
Bacteria are found to have been consuming 50,000 tons of iron since the Titanic sank. Seeing the activity of iron-consuming bacteria, Mann in an interview with FoxNews estimate Titanic left with 15-20 years of age. "I do not think it would be too long after that," he said.
So, it is estimated the ship that sank in 1912 and is the largest ship of its age is really going to be memorable in 2030. In time, watching the movie Titanic might be more meaningful.
